Join Ranger Steve for a roughly 2.5 mile sunset/twilight hike on the easy terrain of the Slate Trail. We’ll be searching for nocturnal Sonoran Desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, and more! Please wear hard-soled shoes or boots, bring plenty of water, and don’t forget a flashlight or UV light if you have one! Trails are rated easy, but there still may be some rocky and/or uneven terrain, though the hike is mostly flat. Restrooms are available at the trailhead, but please bring your own water. Please, no pets.
MEETING LOCATION: We’ll meet at the parking lot adjacent to the restrooms at the Slate Trailhead. DO NOT use Google to navigate to “Slate Trail.” It’ll take you to the wrong location. Come into the park, drive past the nature center, and turn left before the dead end. Take the next right onto Tonalite Dr and park next to the first set of restrooms.
Limit 12 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 6/8/23.
