Parks Vision 2030

The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted to adopt the Parks Vision 2030 Plan on December 6, 2023. The Plan will replace the 2009/2014 System Strategic Master Plan.

Parks Vision 2030 is a master plan that provides overarching system guidance in meeting the needs of the County’s ever-expanding population while taking care of existing parks and seeking to expand park and open space opportunities.

The Plan aims to identify the qualities of a high-quality regional park system, open spaces, and trails. In addition, protecting landscapes and places for people to enjoy and recreate is a critical component of the Plan.

Throughout the development of the Plan, the Department solicited feedback from the public, representatives from local parks and recreation departments, nonprofit organizations, state and federal organizations, and several internal and external focus groups. This is a ten-year plan that identifies which priorities were most important to park visitors and stakeholders.
