Ranger Nikki will lead you on an out-and-back walk to search for bark, striped-tail and giant hairy scorpions. We will also be on the lookout for other nocturnal critters such as bats, owls, tarantulas and more. The route is an out-and-back walk on Rock Peak Wash Trail, which is deep sandy terrain. The total distance is approximately 2 miles. Bring your blacklight and a regular flashlight. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. There are no restrooms or water fountains at the Rock Peak Wash Trailhead so please stop at the Nature Center on Phillips Road on your way to use those facilities. The distance from the main entry nature center and Rock Peak Wash Trailhead is approximately a 5-mile/10-minute drive. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.
