Join Ranger Kevin for an evening hike looking down at the ground for scorpions and up at the sky for stars, constellations, and planets. Click on this program title for more details.
Join Ranger Kevin for an approximately 1.8-mile, out-and-back hike on the Gray Fox Trail. Trail is rated easy, with little elevation change, and little loose rock/uneven terrain. We’ll be searching for the three species of scorpion that inhabit this part of the Sonoran Desert. Afterwards, we’ll take some time to take in the night sky, learning how to find the constellation Scorpius (the Scorpion, of course), and focus as well on some of the other major summertime constellations. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water, along with a flashlight and/or UV light. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please. MEETING LOCATION: Gray Fox Trailhead (Competitive Track Parking Area).
No registration required.
