Join Ranger Nikki on an easy to moderate hike to learn about a variety of desert and riparian plants and search for signs of seasonal wildflower growth. Click program title for more details.
Ranger Nikki will lead you on an easy to moderate terrain hike to learn about common desert plants such as cacti, legume trees and shrubs and search for signs of seasonal wildflower growth along the trails and creek. The route uses Spur Cross, Fairy Duster, Metate and Dragonfly Trails for approximately 5 miles. The trails range from easy flat terrain to rocky and uneven surfaces. Portable restrooms are available at the trailhead. Be sure to bring plenty of your own drinking water as none is available at the park. The entry fee for Spur Cross is $3 per person, cash only. Please have exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass.
MEETING LOCATION: Parking lot near entry sign, northeast corner
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on Friday, February 2.
