Join us for an early morning hike in support of the Sonoran Desert’s native plants and Maricopa County’s natural resource program. Click on program title for more details.
Join Ranger Shaun for an approximately 2-3-mile hike on the Quail Trail, as well as around the Nature Center and the Pollinator Garden. We will be talking about the importance of native plants in restoring desert habitat that has been degraded due to things like wildfire, human use and overgrazing. We may even get the opportunity to observe as “seed bombs” are deployed in several areas along the route to facilitate the health and biodiversity of Estrella Mountain Regional Park. Trail is rated moderate, so expect areas of loose rock, uneven terrain and minor elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are highly recommended. No pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Front porch of Nature Center.
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Visitor Center at 602-506-2930 ext. 6 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 7/26/23.
