Join Ranger Nikki on an easy to moderate terrain 3-mile hike to take in beautiful views and learn about the resilient plants and animals in our desert. The route follows San Tan, Stargazer and Moonlight Trails along with the park’s service road. The terrain varies from level to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring water, snacks a hat and sunscreen. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center.
National Take a Hike Day is celebrated each year on November 17 in recognition of the National Trails System Act of 1968. This Act designated a series of scenic, historic and recreation trails in both backcountry and urban areas in an effort to provide outdoor opportunities for the public. Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department encourages you to connect with nature on a ranger-led hike, on this day or any day, to explore and learn about our beautiful Sonoran Desert. To ensure everyone can enjoy this nationally recognized day, the regular day-use entry fee for all of Maricopa County’s regional parks will be waived on November 17.
