Join Ranger Eric to look for and learn about the resident and migratory birds of the Sonoran Desert on this easy to moderate 1-2 mile roundtrip hike (distance will depend on heat and participant interest). Along the way, we will also discuss ecology of the desert and how birds are adapted to this arid environment. Late migrant songbirds may still be seen passing through. We will meet at the Trailhead Staging Area, walk the short distance to the Wildlife Pond, then hike along Ford Canyon Trail for about 0.5-1 mile. Porta-potties are available at the Trailhead Staging Area, with flush toilets and sinks available a short drive away at Areas 4 and 5. Please wear sun protection and sturdy footwear, carry ample water and snacks, and binoculars or camera if you have them See page 2 of the park map here for best view of trail details: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/white-tank-8x11.pdf.
