Explore the north side of the park on a hike to see a portion of Ford Canyon and possibly some signs that spring plant life is on the way. The hike is moderately paced but will include water/snack breaks and stops to enjoy the scenery or a passing critter. The route follows Waddell and Ford Canyon Trails for an out-and-back route up to 5.5 miles roundtrip. Waddell Trail is rated as easy and this section of Ford Canyon Trail is easy to moderate. The terrain varies from flat and level to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Hiking poles may be helpful. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Area 7 Trailhead.
