Learn to see the desert in a different way: through the lens of climate change and its impact on our native plants and animals while hiking with Ranger Kevin. Click program title for more details.

Join Ranger Kevin for a 3.8-mile morning hike on segments of the Ford Canyon, Waddell, and Mesquite Trails. Trail segments are rated easy, with little loose rock, uneven terrain or elevation change. We will be on the lookout for a variety of desert plants and animals while talking about the ways climate change and extreme weather events are affecting the local environment. We’ll also be looking at how this summer’s intense heat and delayed monsoon storms ties into larger trends and climate patterns. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. No pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging Area.
Limit 12 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 5 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 10/4.
