Join ranger Derik on the Overton trail as you learn about the many cactus species that call the Sonoran Desert home. Click program title for more details.
Starting from the nature center we will head up the Overton Trail for 3.1 miles. This trail is considered moderately challenging and will gain 500 ft of elevation. The trail will take you past towering saguaro cacti and offers sweeping views of the Phoenix Valley and the neighboring Tonto National Forest. The trails can be sand, rock, and uneven in places, so it is recommended you wear sturdy supportive shoes and bring plenty of water. Please, no pets. MEETING LOCATION: Near the front entrance to the Nature Center.
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 5/10/23.
