Join Ranger Nikki on a moderate morning hike to enjoy flowering saguaros and other cacti. Click program title for more details.

Ranger Nikki will lead you on a hike to learn about saguaros and view their pollinator-friendly blooms. We will also talk about prickly pear, barrel, cholla, hedgehog and pincushion cacti. The route follows North Trail for a 3-mile loop. The terrain is mostly flat and even with a few areas that are uneven with small rocks underfoot. If you would like to learn how to document your findings via the iNaturalist citizen science project, please download the free app at home and register with a username prior to arrival. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Binoculars are helpful. Make sure your phone is fully charged to take photos. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center and just north of the trailhead on Asher View Drive.

MEETING LOCATION: North Trail trailhead. (This trailhead is a 10-minute drive from the park entry booth).

Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the McDowell Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email the ranger ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 5/30/24.
