Venture to the edge of the Tonto National Forest on this fitness hike with Ranger
Derik. Click program title for more details.
This 4-mile hike will wind through rolling hills, sandy washes and desert canyons while offering spectacular views of the Tonto National Forest. During the hike we will learn about the many cacti species that call the park home and how they have adapted to life in the Sonoran Desert. Spur Cross has few amenities and no water access so please make sure to bring all the water you will need for the hike. Sturdy hiking shoes and plenty of sunscreen are recommended; the trails can be rocky and there is little to no shade along the hike. MEETING LOCATION: covered picnic area, just past main park entrance. *Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Annual Pass or CASH are accepted, and exact change is much appreciated. If the fee station past the parking lot is closed, there are iron rangers with envelopes to place your cash payment in. Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at Cave Creek Regional Park at (602) 506- 2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 09/26/23.
