Join Ranger Eric for a guided stationary ‘big sit’, where we will watch and learn about birds while hanging out at the picnic area behind the Visitor Center, among the stand of ~150-year-old California fan palms and white mulberries. The mulberries will be fruiting and drawing in lots of colorful birds, and we will be in the peak of spring migration. During the event, we will learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, discuss eBird and citizen science, and learn about the behavioral and ecological traits that make birds unique. Some binoculars are available to borrow at the front desk of the Visitor Center. Picnic tables are available, and the picnic area is barrier-free for handicapped access. Please wear sun protection and bring ample water for yourself. A water bottle filling station is located behind the restrooms off of the main parking lot.

If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Visitor Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
