Maricopa County Parks will host seven Seed Deployment Events in Oct-November.
Join us for one of our Seed Deployment Events; there are seven events for you to join. It is so much fun!
When: November 9 at White Tank Mountain Regional Park, Meet at Area 4 parking lot at 8 am-11:30 am.
The Desert Defender Team spent months removing Invasive species and collecting native seeds in the parks this spring, and then this summer, we hosted several seed pellet workshops. Now, let's get out there to sling, fling, and sow the seed and seed pellets in the parks. That is the best part!
Participants will learn how to sling, fling, and sow native seeds in areas previously treated for invasive plants or impacted by wildfires. This will deter invasive species from returning, reduce wildfire potential, and improve the area's native biodiversity.
FREE Desert Defender T-shirts when participating in four or more events (while supplies last). Thanks to Arizona Master Naturalists and Central AZ Conservation Alliance,
Please bring gloves, water, a snack, and dress in long sleeves, pants, and closed-toed shoes. We will sow, fling, and sling native seeds and pellets in the desert environment with many spiky plants using gloves, slings, or other hand tools.
Participants should be 18 or older; young adults (13 ) may participate with supervision or a parent's waiver.
Programs with less than three registered volunteers may be canceled at least one day before the event. Registered volunteers will receive an email stating that the event has been canceled.
