: Start the weekend with a brisk hike through the Sonoran Desert with Ranger Derik
as the sun sets and take in the sweeping views of Cave Creekâs many mountains and the city of Phoenix. Click on program title for more details.
A 3.5-mile hike along sections of the Slate, Jasper, Quartz and Go John trails. These trails combined are rated as moderate to difficult so expect steep uphills, sandy washes, loose rock, and roots. As it is summer in the desert, you are encouraged to bring 3 liters of water on the hike but please make sure to be drinking water throughout the day before the hike. Water can be found at the Nature Center, however, it will not be open at 6 PM. Bathrooms can be found at the trailhead. It also is a good idea to leave a frozen water bottle in your car so at the end of the hike you will have cold ice water. Please no pets MEETING LOCATION: Slate Trailhead Limit 20 participants.
