The hike will consist of steep inclines on rocky and loose ground, and you will gain 1200ft of elevation over the course of the 7 miles. This hike is only recommended for people with a significant hiking experience as this is a difficult hike. Sturdy boots with good ankle support and trekking poles are highly encouraged to assist with uphill and downhill hiking as well as for stability on loose terrain. There are no water fountains at the park so please plan ahead (recommend at least 3-4 liters of water). As it will be Fall, and we will be hiking to a higher elevation, so please dress in layers that can be changed as the temperatures fluctuate throughout the day; expect some wind. The hike will begin at the covered tables just past the contact station, porta-johns and water fountains are available.
