Look for and learn about reptiles of the Sonoran Desert during this short, guided hike with Ranger Eric. Click on program title for more details.

Join Ranger Eric for a short, guided hike along the Roadrunner Trail and around the Discovery Center to look for reptiles of the Sonoran Desert. Along the way, we will discuss identification tips, their ecological roles, and safety around venomous animals. We will hike probably 0.25-0.5 mile on easy grade, but occasionally rocky or uneven ground. Please wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. The hike may be shortened or canceled if extreme heat is forecasted. Restrooms are available at the Discovery Center.

Afterward the walk, Ranger Eric will host a discovery station for "World Snake Day" inside the Discovery Center from 10:00am-12:30pm, with live reptiles to see and learn about.

MEETING LOCATION: We will meet at the Discovery Center. See park map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8x111.pdf.

No registration required.
