Enjoy a roughly 2-mile hike on the Spur Cross and Metate trails with Ranger Kevin as we look for all kinds of wildlife along the way. Some animals we may see include mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, various species of birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Trail is rated easy-moderate, with some loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water (Spur Cross has no available drinking water). Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the trailhead. NO pets, please.
MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead (past the entry station, near the picnic tables and restrooms)
Please note: Entry to Spur Cross Conservation Area is $3 per person. Cash only is accepted, and exact change is much appreciated. If entry station is closed, please place your money in the payment box at the gate.
