The Castle Creek section of Lake Pleasant Regional Park hosts many visitors throughout the year, which makes keeping up with trash clean-up along the vast shoreline a difficult task. Not only is litter ugly to look at, but it also can be a health risk for our native wildlife. Therefore, we are asking you to give your land a hand and join us and our co-sponsor, Desert Breeze Kayaking, for a fun day of volunteering at the Castle Creek Roundup!! During the event, we also plan to have some family fun activities for everyone; opportunities to learn about kayaking/paddle boarding, food vendors, and other nature-based exhibitors. Come out and join the fun!!
We are seeking willing and able volunteers to provide the manpower to walk the shoreline and bag trash and litter. You must be in good physical condition with the ability to work outdoors, standing, walking, and or bending over in the desert heat.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves. Make sure to bring plenty of water. A sun hat, sunscreen, a salty snack, and good hiking shoes are also recommended. We will provide the trash bags and trash pickers.
This event will be held at the Castle Creek section of Lake Pleasant (North Entrance - 2 miles North of the park's Main Entrance). Upon arrival, volunteers will be directed to the North section of the parking lot where park staff will meet you. A Safety briefing will be held prior to volunteering. Participants will be able to volunteer anytime from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Most people will volunteer an hour or two and then enjoy the activities.
In return for your generous service, all volunteers will receive free admission to Lake Pleasant for the entire day! Non-volunteers will be required to pay the normal entry fee.
We hope you enjoy the Castle Creek Roundup!
