Join Ranger Steve for a sunset/after dark hike through the park to look for nocturnal desert wildlife! Click program title for more details.

This program has been cancelled due to extreme temperatures that are forecasted this week. The area is under an Excessive Heat Warning advising that people stay indoors, especially during the hottest times of the day. The safety and health of our visitors is of the utmost importance to Maricopa County Parks and Recreation and we hope that you will attend one of our programs in the near future.

Join Ranger Steve for a roughly 2-mile sunset/twilight hike on the easy terrain of the Roadrunner Trail. We’ll be searching for nocturnal Sonoran Desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, and more! Please wear hard-soled shoes or boots, bring plenty of water, and don’t forget a flashlight or UV light if you have one! Trails are rated easy, but there still may be some rocky and/or uneven terrain, though the hike is mostly flat. Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead, but please bring your own as well. Please, no pets.

MEETING LOCATION: We’ll meet at the Roadrunner Trailhead in the Discovery Center parking lot.
Limit 12 participants. To register, please email Ranger Steve directly at stephen.dacosta@maricopa.gov and include your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 7/19/23.
