Join Ranger Nikki on a moderate terrain hike to learn about some of the cacti in our desert and catch a glimpse of critters on the move. Click program title for more details.
Ranger Nikki will lead you on a moderate terrain hike to look for saguaros, cholla and barrel cacti along with a variety of animals such as birds, lizards, deer and more. The route follows Slate, Quartz, a portion of Flat Rock, and Go John Trails for approximately 4.5 miles total. The terrain is mostly rocky and uneven and there is an elevation gain of 300 feet along Quartz Trail. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center and Trailhead.
Meeting Location: Slate Trailhead on Tonalite Drive.
Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Cave Creek Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 8 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on Friday, December 8.
