Join Ranger Nikki on a 3-mile easy/moderate hike to look for critter activity and learn about a variety of desert cacti. Click program title for more details.

Ranger Nikki will lead you on a hike to look to observe birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles starting their day and learn about saguaros, cholla, prickly pear and more. We will also look for seasonal vegetation brought about by any monsoon rain activity. The route will be approx. 3 miles out-and-back on Slate and part of Flume Trails, rated as easy to moderate terrain. The trail surface ranges from smooth and level to rocky and uneven. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring sun protection and plenty of water. Bring a camera and notebook to log your observations. Restrooms and water are available at Slate Trailhead.

MEETING LOCATION: Slate Trailhead on Tonalite Drive
