Join Ranger Derik on a night hike through pipeline canyon and hunt for scorpions as the sun sets and the stars

This hike will follow the Yavapai Point trail to a hilltop that overlooks all of Lake Pleasant. The trail will be 3 miles round trip with 350 ft of elevation gain. The trail is rocky and steep in many sections and is rated as moderate. If you have mobility issues hiking poles are strongly encouraged. Make sure to bring a charged flashlight or headlamp and if you have a black light please bring it along. There are bathrooms at the trailhead but not water so make sure to bring plenty with you. MEETING LOCATION: Cottonwood Day Use Area, use north entrance to lake Limit 20 participants. To register, please email derik.rodgers@maricopa.gov with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email Ranger Derik so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 8/15/24. Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events.
