With the vanishing of the last of winter’s “chill” and the return of the warmth of the rest of the year, the desert is waking up pretty quickly around here. Come for a quick hike after dark to see the desert in a new light. We’ll look for ants, spiders, mice, rats and other rodents. Lizards and snakes are occasional visitors. The big star of our summer bug walks is generally our scorpions; however, with their iconic look and glowing exoskeletons. Let's see how many we can find early and see what that population looks like. Closed toed shoes are required for this activity. Water bottles and flashlight are recommended. UV lights (blacklights) are useful if you have them, though the Ranger generally has a few to loan.
