Come celebrate National Public Lands Day by helping Ranger Derik clean up the Gila River!! Click program title for more details.

National Public Lands Day (NLPD) is the nation’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands, held annually on the fourth Saturday in September. We will be meeting at the Nature Center first to fill up on water, hand out tools, trash bags and go over the plan for the morning, then we will drive over to the parking lot just across the street to the Research Trail that accesses the river (if you can carpool that would be helpful and allow some spots to remain open for other park visitors). Bathrooms and water will be available at the Nature Center but not at the work site. Please bring plenty of water with you, wear a hat, and if you have a pair of work gloves or gardening gloves feel free to bring them along. We will spend 3 hours removing trash that has been dumped or washed down the river over the course of a year. Maricopa County parks is a proud partner with Leave No Trace and with your help we can keep our parks clean and protect the wildlife that calls the Sonoran Desert home. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center lobby Limit 20 participants. To register, please go to https://signup.com/go/wsfYMDh. Please note: Summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website is the best resource for verifying the program’s current status, so please check the program listing prior to departing for your scheduled program.
