Learn about diverse desert plant life on a 3.5-hike with Ranger Nikki. We will see cacti, trees, perennial shrubs and annual plants and discuss their life cycles and survival strategies. The route uses Cottonwood Trail, a portion of paved roadway and sections of Yavapai Point and Pipeline Trails, making. You have the option of ending your hike at the parking lot after the 2-mile Cottonwood/Roadway loop or continuing with Ranger Nikki on the additional 1.4-mile loop. The trail surface ranges from smooth and level to rocky and uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available Cottonwood Trailhead.
